Subaru Australias ongoing motor sport links have been
underlined by its commitment to the newly formed Australian Institute for Motor
Sport Safety (AIMSS).
Subaru becomes one of the first automotive industry members of
AIMSS, which was recently founded by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport
(CAMS), to promote improvements in the safety of motor sport and the
relationship with road safety in Australia.
Subaru has many years of domestic and worldwide rallying
success and has recently explored a variety of tarmac events in Australia.
Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, said: Were
delighted to join an organisation that puts safety centre stage.
Subaru has made a significant commitment to safety in both
its road and motor sport vehicles.
Innovative engineering has produced four cars in our range
that have the top five star rating for occupant safety in independent
crashworthiness testing by the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
Some of those safety innovations in our road cars have direct
links to technologies that have been thoroughly tested in our motor sport
vehicles.
Our experience over many years of rallying and more recently
in tarmac events has also highlighted the need for constant enhancements,
technical excellence and safety education for competitors and their crews alike.
AIMSS represents a concerted industry and motor sport
approach that can only benefit safety and its promotion both to the general
public and the motor sport community.
Dr. Michael Henderson, AIMSS Chairman said: We are delighted
to have the support of Subaru for the endeavours of AIMSS. Subaru has an
extensive background in motor sport and its commitment to motor sport safety is
well known. We appreciate their absolute willingness to get behind the
activities of AIMSS.
AIMSS is a non-regulatory body encouraging excellence across
all aspects of motor sport safety through research, education, and the
coordination of safety-related programs.
The formation of AIMSS provides an important step in the
evolution of safety in motor sport and to have Subarus support and input as we
develop our programs is an important indication of the relevance of our mission.
We greatly appreciate and welcome this partnership.
