- Chrysler resurgence spurs model boom
- All-new full size, four seat cabrio with metal folding roof
- Standout Chrysler design and outstanding value from under $57,000
- America’s favourite convertible
Melbourne – In further evidence of the Chrysler Group’s commitment to growing
its local line-up, the Group has today revealed the all-new Sebring Cabrio,
unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show overnight, will be launched in Australia
at the end of 2007.
“Chrysler is a marque on the rise,” said Gerry Jenkins, managing director for
the Chrysler Group in Australia.
“It’s the second fastest growing brand in Australia and the Sebring Cabrio is
yet another example of our brand’s broadening appeal.
“Along with the Sebring Sedan, which arrives mid-next year, Chrysler will
have seven models in the market by the end of 2007, over double the offerings we
had only 13 months back,” said Jenkins.
Driven by the success of the 300C large sedan Chrysler has seen an amazing
resurgence over the past year. Sales are up 70 per cent for the year and with
plenty of striking product on the way the future for the U.S. icon looks bright.
The Chrysler Sebring Cabrio has long held the honor of America's favorite
open-air vehicle having been the best-selling convertible in the United States
for seven of the past 11 years. And according to Jenkins this latest model is
ideal for the Australian market with its standout design and value.
“The new Sebring is a stunning four seat two-door Cabrio that not only
delivers standout Chrysler design but will offer outstanding value for money
compared to other full-sized convertibles in Australia,” said Jenkins.
“The Sebring Convertible offers a combination of unmistakable road presence,
athletic handling and innovative technologies, as well as plenty of room for
people and gear.
“We are negotiating hard with the U.S. to achieve a starting price in the
mid-$50,000 range. At that price no full-sized convertible comes close!” he
said.
Chrysler’s Sebring Cabrio features a retractable hard roof that folds into
three sections and stows in less than 30 seconds. Standard roof system features
include remote control operation from the key fob, standard powered tonneau
cover and automatic latching.
The stunning Cabrio will be powered by a 2.7-litre V6 petrol engine
delivering 141 kW of power and 259 Nm of torque.
Three inches longer than the Sebring Sedan, the Sebring Cabrio has a spacious
interior that comfortably sits four adults and enough room in the boot to hold
two golf bags when the top is dropped, or four when it us up.
The Chrysler Sebring Convertible will come with a high level of safety
features, including Electronic Stability Program and the equivalent of eight air
bags as standard, and has been engineered to have an extremely rigid body
structure for a quiet, comfortable ride, even when the top is down. Chrysler sales
With 1,561 sales to October, the aggressively styled 300C has largely driven
Chrysler’s growth muscling a 33 per cent share in the large car segment (under
$100,000). Brand sales of 3,068 are up 70 per cent for the year making Chrysler
the second fastest growing brand in Australia by volume, and the third fastest
growing brand by percentage change (2005 October year-to-date figures).
