Nissan's hugely successful turbo-diesel Navara ST-X has taken out the inaugural
4X4 Australia Magazine’s Ute of the Year award.
The D40 Navara topped a field of 12 finalists with its class-leading engine
and off-road ability giving it the edge over its competitors.
The judges praised the diesel Navara’s class leading 403Nm of torque and low
range reduction gear.
The editor of 4X4 Australia, Dean Mellor, said; “slip the Navara into low
range and point it off-road and there’s a class-leading low-range reduction in
first gear of 43.576:1, giving the Navara great hill climbing ability and
effective engine braking”.
The judges praised the 2.5-litre common-rail turbo-diesel’s performance in
all conditions, “even with a load on board, the engine makes enough low-rpm
torque to climb most highway hills in top gear”.
Nissan’s general manager of marketing, Ross Booth, was pleased with the
recognition from such a well-renowned magazine as 4X4 Australia.
“We know we have a great product in the D40 Navara. This has been backed up
by its sales which have consistently outstripped demand,” said Mr Booth.
“The D40 Navara is a great multi-purpose 4x4. It offers the flexibility of a
genuine five-seater with heaps of interior space, whilst still being a
functional and useful workhorse.”
