- Caliber becomes twelfth consecutive new Chrysler Group vehicle to receive
five stars for frontal crash protection
- Caliber also earns top rating for side-impact protection
The 2007 Dodge Caliber, the vehicle which will launch the brand’s Australian
offensive in mid August, has received the U.S. government’s highest ratings for
side and frontal-impact crash protection from the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The Dodge Caliber’s five-star rating for frontal crash protection makes it
the twelfth consecutive new product from Chrysler Group, consisting of the
Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands, to achieve the top safety rating in the
government's frontal crash tests.
In addition, Caliber received the government’s highest crash ratings for
protecting the driver and rear passenger in a side impact.
Dodge Caliber is equipped with many safety and security technologies
including high-strength steel structure, advanced multistage driver and front
passenger air bags, side-curtain airbags and four-wheel disc brakes with ABS.
Chrysler Group has recorded five stars for frontal crash protection for 12
consecutive new product launches. These vehicles include: Chrysler 300C, Jeep®
Grand Cherokee, Jeep® Commander, Chrysler and Dodge minivans, Dodge Charger,
Pacifica, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Durango, Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge Ram Quad, Dodge
Dakota, and Dodge Caliber.
With a sporty coupe-like profile and a distinctive crossbar grille front end
the Dodge Caliber stands out from the crowd in the compact car segment.
At launch two efficient petrol engines will be available, a 1.8-litre (110
kW) and 2.0-litre (115 kW), and the company also plans to make available a
2.4-litre petrol engine (127kW) and 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine soon after.
Unique available features on the Caliber further differentiate the vehicle
from the ‘vanilla’ offerings in the market place, including Chill Zone®, a
cooled beverage storage bin that can hold up to four standard drink bottles, a
dual purpose self-recharging removable flashlight which is mounted in the
headliner above the cargo area and MusicGate Power®, a nine-speaker Boston
Acoustics premium sound system with subwoofer that includes two articulating
speakers packaged in the liftgate.
