June 30 2006 Audi's New TT Coupe Just Launched Audi’s latest generation
TT Coupe sportscar has just been launched in Europe. This brand new design and
performance icon is expected to be launched in Australia in November 2006,
priced from around $70,000.
Three variants will be available at launch in Australia including;
2.0 TFSI manual with 147kW and 280Nm 2.0 TFSI S-tronic with 147 kW and
280Nm 3.2 quattro S-tronic with 184 kW and 320Nm
The first generation of the TT was a milestone in automotive design,
combining modern styling with Bauhaus cues in a spectacular sportscar package.
The new generation TT Coupe is now even more expressive in its appearance.
Its defining element is the single frame grille, surrounded by a narrow chrome
strip, immediately tying this new TT to the very latest generation of Audi
design. Compared with the previous model, the roof has been repositioned further
towards the rear and the tail extends further back and now boasts a
speed-activated retractable spoiler.
While Australian specifications and pricing are yet to be confirmed, key new
features such as Audi magnetic ride are expected to be standard for Australian
vehicles.
The new TT is expected to outsell its predecessor in Australia says Audi's
managing director, Joerg Hofmann.
"The new Audi TT will be a highly important model for Australia. The original
Audi TT was very successful in Australia, and succeeded in boosting the image of
the brand exponentially," Mr Hofmann said.
"This new model will add to Audi’s growing profile in Australia thanks to its
evolutionary design which is bound to turn heads when the car arrives here late
this year," he added.
The TT Roadster has been confirmed for start of production in 2007 and is
likely to reach Australian shores the same year.
