Honda's CR-V is the cheapest compact SUV to own and run, according to the
findings of an RACV survey.
The RACV's 2006 Vehicle Operating Costs survey shows the cost of running a
Honda CR-V is $189.85 a week, $12.06 less than the nearest compact SUV.
"The survey shows what we've been saying for some time - the CR-V is the
ideal choice for customers wanting value for money," said Honda Australia
Director Lindsay Smalley.
"The range starts at $29,990, and for that price you get heaps of space, a
raft of safety features and 4WD."
"Add the fact that it uses less fuel than the average Aussie sedan and you're
looking at a very family-friendly package."
The Honda CR-V range begins at $29,990 and features:
- 2.4-litre i-VTEC LEV 4-cylinder engine producing 118kW and 220Nm.
- 9.5 litres per 100 km fuel consumption (manual)
- Choice of two transmissions - 5-speed manual or electronically controlled
5-speed automatic.
- Honda Real Time 4WD dual pump system.
- 16" steel wheels.
- ABS brakes with EBD.
- Front driver & passenger SRS airbags.
- Cruise control.
- Single in-dash CD player with steering wheel-mounted controls.
- Three-point seatbelts in all seating positions.
- Front seatbelt and buckle pretensioners.
- Security alarm.
- 527-litre cargo space.
- Luggage cover.
- Picnic table.
RACV calculations are over a five-year ownership
period and are based on the average operating conditions for the private
motorist, including travelling 15,000km a year.
The RACV survey examined 37 of the top selling cars in 11 vehicle categories
based on standing costs; acquiring, financing, insuring and registration, and
running costs; what owners pay on a regular basis for fuel, tyres, servicing
etc.
