Mazda Australia has recorded a sales benchmark for May, retailing 5624 vehicles
last month or 365 more that the same month last year.
The May sales record was lead by the top-selling Mazda3 range which had its
best sales month since October last year. The Mazda3 sedan and hatch range, now
on run out ahead of a significantly updated lineup due in August, sold 2918
cars.
Mazda’s commercial workhorse, the B Series also impressed with 788 sales, its
second best month ever. It trailed its best monthly performance (June 2001) by
just 23 sales.
The Mazda6 continued to sell well with 1127 sales and Mazda2 446 also
contributed strongly to the record result.
Martin Benders, Mazda Australia’s national marketing manager said: “The May
result is particularly pleasing given that a little heat has come out of the
market during the past few months.
“The strength of our sales is encouraging given that we are on the verge of
another round of significant product updates with new Tribute, new Mazda3 and
the high performance Mazda3 MPS all due in the next couple of months.”
So far this year Mazda has retailed 27,193 vehicles and expects to sell a
record 67,000 vehicles this year.
