BMW rewrote
the rules on how to build a dynamic, exciting compact car when the all-new 1
Series came to Australia in October 2004.
Now BMW makes the 1 Series even more appealing with a feature-rich options
package that will be music to the ears of motoring fans.
Dubbed the “Plus One” package, and applicable to the 118i and 120i and 120d
models, a wide selection of choice options are bundled together with a 30 gig
iPod complete with car connector.
This means music lovers can access a vast selection of their favourite music
on the move, with their iPod powered through the car’s electrical system and
playing via the on-board stereo. Volume can be controlled via buttons on the
multi-function steering wheel.
For the 95 kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder 118i, in addition to the iPod, the
“Plus One” package adds Boston leather seat upholstery, 17-inch star spoke light
alloy wheels, cruise control, metallic paint, and colour coding for door
handles, roof mouldings and rubbing strips.
For the 120i, the “Plus One” package adds Boston leather seat upholstery,
17-inch star spoke light alloy wheels, Bluetooth phone preparation, metallic
paint, rear Park Distance Control and a 30 gig iPod with car connector.
The BMW 1 Series “Plus One” package is priced at $2,200 for 118i and 120i and
120d models.
In addition, all new 116i and 118i models ordered from now on will come
equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard in place of the five-speed
manual available to date.
With its superbly balanced, rear-wheel drive configuration, distinctive
long-bonneted style and outstanding versatility, the 1 Series has created a stir
in the market and introduced a growing band of new friends to BMW.
Embodying the principles found in all BMW cars – leading-edge technology,
superlative quality, outstanding luxury and passenger comfort – the 1 Series
also lifted compact car performance to new heights with the introduction of the
muscular, magnesium-aluminium straight-six cylinder 195kW 130i Sport in December
2005.
The 130i Sport complemented the 116i, 118i and 120i models, further expanding
a range in which BMW embraced new fields of conquest and introduced previously
unknown levels of compact-car dynamism.
The 130i Sport is now followed by the 120d, powered by the acclaimed BMW
four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine. This produces 115 kW of power and
330 Nm of torque for effortless on-road driving performance coupled with
outstanding fuel economy.
The 120d is available only with a six-speed automatic transmission priced
from $47,800.
The BMW 1 Series “Plus One” package is now available at BMW dealers.
