- Safety, performance and value deciding factors
- Amercian Automobile Association and leading family magazine name three
Chrysler Group vehicles on 2006 list
- Seven-seat Jeep® Commander arrives mid 2006
Three Chrysler Group vehicles have made the American Automobile Association
(AAA) and Parents magazine's list of ‘Best Cars for Families’ for 2006. The
Chrysler Voyager, Jeep® Commander - which arrives in Australia mid 2006 - and
Dodge Charger, were chosen based upon their safety, performance and value to
consumers.
"We are delighted that the AAA and Parents magazine have recognised our
segment leading Chrysler Voyager and soon to be released seven-seat Jeep
Commander on this important list," said Gerry Jenkins, managing director,
Chrysler Group Australia.
“Whilst the third vehicle on this list, the Dodge Charger, won’t be coming to
Australia at this stage, the brand will arrive with the boldly styled Caliber
compact car mid year.
"Across our three brands, the Chrysler Group is committed to providing
vehicles to our customers that are safe, innovative, fun-to-drive and deliver
superior value," said Jenkins.
The AAA, known for its 100 years of auto safety expertise and emergency road
services, combined with Parents magazine, one of America's leading family
publications, had a lengthy list of criteria for 2006 models. A team of
reviewers from both the AAA and Parents considered everything from air bags and
fuel economy to cup holders and cargo space when voting. They installed child
safety and booster seats and chose vehicles that are among the top crash-test
performers.
2006 Chrysler Voyager Named in the minivan category, the 2006
Chrysler Voyager (known as the Town & Country in America) is the descendent
of the first and best-selling luxury people mover and stays true to the original
formula by offering innovative features in an elegant package. The Chrysler
Group is the only manufacturer with fold-in-the-floor second and third-row
seats, the Stow 'n Go TM seating and storage system. The system features
second-row bucket seats that can be folded into the floor and a third row 60/40
split bench seat that can fold into the floor, or fold rearward to face out the
tailgate when the vehicle is parked.
Proving a hit with families in Australia, the Voyager has achieved over
10,000 sales since it was released in 1996, considerably raising the profile of
the Chrysler brand.
2006 Jeep Commander Named in the sport-utility vehicle (SUV)
category, the Jeep Commander is the brand’s first seven-seat vehicle, offering
benchmark power, control, flexibility, advanced safety technology and premium
amenities. The Jeep Commander includes the highest level of standard safety and
security technology and features ever offered on a Chrysler Group vehicle.
Because Commander is the first Jeep vehicle with three rows of seats, more
passengers can visit more places to enjoy its go-anywhere, do-anything
capability.
2006 Dodge Charger Named in the sedan category, the 2006 Dodge
Charger is a fresh, contemporary execution of modern muscle with the convenience
and interior capacity of a full-size passenger car. While there aren’t any plans
to bring the Dodge Charger to Australia at this stage, the brand will arrive in
Australia mid 2006 with the boldly styled Dodge Caliber compact car.
