BMW Group Australia has confirmed it will bring the just announced Z4 Coupé and
Z4 M Coupé to Australia in the second half of 2006.
The Z4 Coupé was revealed to huge acclaim at the Frankfurt Motor Show in
September as a concept, and followed up with an Asian market debut at the Tokyo
Motor Show in October.
The company confirmed this week that the new model will reach series
production from June next year at the BMW Z4 factory in Spartanburg, South
Carolina, USA.
Visitors to both international motor shows were captivated by the concept
study of the Z4 Coupé with its muscular coupé silhouette and silken silver matt
paint finish. Their euphoric response has prompted BMW to put the car into
series production.
Styled in the vein of a classic sports coupé inside and out to express the
explosive potential of the dynamic driving experience, the Z4 Coupé will be
offered in Australia in two six-cylinder guises, the Z4 Coupé and Z4 M Coupé.
The Z4 M Coupé will be powered by the same multi-award-winning 252 kW
straight six 3.2-litre engine as used in the M3 Coupé and Convertible and from
March in Australia, the Z4 M Roadster.
It will also be fitted with M chassis features as employed by the Z4 M
Roadster as well as the variable M differential lock for excellent traction
under the most demanding driving conditions.
The 195kW straight six-cylinder engine delivers superior agility, thanks to
its high output and its low weight magnesium-aluminium engine.
It not only catapults the Z4 Coupé to the top of the international
competitive field, but underlines the driving perfection of the Z4 Roadster on
which the Coupé is closely based.
Further detailed information on the BMW Z4 Coupé and Z4 M Coupé for Australia
including pricing and specification, will be announced closer to launch.
