CHINA, December 6, 2004 - The Honda CR-V manufactured and sold by Dongfeng Honda
Automobile (Wuhan) Co., Ltd., the automobile production and sales joint venture
of Honda and Dongfeng Motor Corp. in China, has been named “SUV of the Year” for
2005 in China by Auto Club – Motor Trend magazine.
The “Car of the Year” award in China is presented by Auto Club magazine,
published by the People’s Daily in association with the U.S.-based Motor Trend
magazine. Judges including many automotive engineering experts make selections
in two categories – passenger cars and SUVs — based on the same selection
criteria as the Car of the Year award in the U.S. This is the third year for the
award in China.
Dongfeng Honda began production of the CR-V in April 2004 as its first model
and has sold 9,000 units over the last seven months between May, when the model
was introduced in China, and November – making it the best selling model in the
mid- to high-end SUV category.
