Nissan's market leading 4x4 sports pick-up, the Navara ST-R, has received a
significant update with new features designed to improve styling, handling and
safety.
On sale in May, the updated Navara ST-R will come with chrome power mirrors,
revised interior colours, including new black seat trim, revised suspension and
wider 265/70R16 all-terrain tyres.
Nissan has also fitted a standard driver's side airbag and front seatbelt
pretensioners to the Navara ST-R. An optional passenger's side airbag is also
available for $450.
The changes are available on both the petrol and diesel variants, which are
equipped with either a 125kW 3.3-litre V6 or a 110kW ZD30 3.0-litre turbo diesel
engine respectively.
The ZD30 diesel is Nissan's most popular Navara variant, thanks to its
effortless performance, refinement and economy.
Both engines are available with a five-speed manual transmission on the 4x4
models.
The Navara 4x2 range offers two models, the DX single and dual cabs. Both
come with a 2.4-litre DOHC four-cylinder engine and are available with either a
five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.
Prices start at $19,990 for the DX single cab and $25,490 for the DX dual
cab. For $2000 extra both models get an optional automatic transmission.
The Navara 4x4 range includes one single cab model, the DX 3.0-litre
turbo-diesel, which comes with a five-speed manual transmission. Pricing starts
at $33,340.
Both DX and ST-R variants are available in the 4x4 dual cab range with the
choice of either diesel or petrol engine. The DX 3.3-litre petrol is priced from
$36,340 and the DX 3.0-litre diesel is priced from $38,840.
Pricing of the updated Navara ST-R models has increased by just $500, with
the Navara ST-R 3.3-litre petrol now starting at $40,990 and the ST-R 3.0-litre
turbo-diesel starting at $43,490.
Since its launch in 2002, the Navara ST-R has been a runaway success for
Nissan. The ST-R accounts for over 60 per cent of total Navara sales and at the
end of calendar year 2003 total sales were 40 per cent up on the same period in
2002.
Nissan Australia's commercial vehicle product manager, Andrew Dimsey, said
the revisions to the Navara ST-R will be well received as many of the changes
were requested by customers.
“ST-R is the best selling model in the Navara range and the additional
features and modifications should prove very popular with our customers.”
